Volunteering at Castle Hill Primary School
Thank you for showing an interest in volunteering to help our children in school. We welcome a variety of volunteers into school on a voluntary basis. These may be parents, grandparents, adults looking for placements to gain experience before starting a course in education or other members of the Castle Hill community who wish to contribute to the learning and development of our children.
We are a friendly and welcoming school, who regularly host volunteers to support our fantastic pupils. Our motto 'Aiming for Excellence' and 'Manners Matter' captures the essence of our school. We seek to provide the best for every child in a disciplined, hardworking and happy environment.
Types of activities which we have:
- Hearing children read
- Working with small groups of children
- Undertaking craft activities
- Working with children on computers
- Preparing resources for lessons
- Accompanying school visits
- Escorting children on local walks
Safeguarding
There is a requirement for schools to carry out an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check for everyone who works in a school whether that be paid employment or in a voluntary capacity.
Application Process
To apply to be a volunteer at Castle Hill Primary School, please contact the school via this link with a cover email explaining what you would like to do at the school. A member of our team will respond to arrange a telephone call to discuss how best you can support the school.
Please be aware, that depending on when you apply, there may be limited volunteer roles available in school due to our other commitments to students from our local colleges and universities.
Year 10 work experience
We often receive requests from students from local secondary schools seeking to complete their Year 10 work experience at Castle Hill Primary School. While we are happy to support these requests, please note that spaces are limited. Priority will be given to students who are interested in pursuing a career in Education.
Additionally, secondary school students will not have the option to select specific adults to work with during their placement. Instead, we will assign students to roles that best suit the needs of the school.
We aim to support secondary school students in preparing for the 'world of work.' Therefore, we kindly ask that the student contacts the school directly to arrange their placement. This will also allow us to assess the student's suitability and align their placement with the school's needs.
