Thursday
Today was possibly the best day of all. We went to the seashore as a year group where we built sandcastles, made seaweed art and our own rock pools.
After this, one class played migration and journeys with Mrs G chasing as the attacking hawk. The other class got their turn on earthquake. All the children had a great time on lava leap and Miss Edwards and Mr V took a leap of faith too.
We’ve just gone to bed after a thrilling performance in the S factor where we showed our talents and performance our house songs. We’re ready for home, a good rest and our beds!
Wednesday
This morning we went to collect our mammal hotels from their hiding places. We were very lucky to have caught two voles, a mouse and a shrew.
After examining the creatures we set them free in the woods so that they could return to their daily routine. In the afternoon one class enjoyed Earthquake while the other took part in Egg-stream challenge.
This evening we have the wide game and a final song rehearsal before the S factor competition.
Tuesday
All the children slept soundly and woke up refreshed this morning. Many devoured a cooked breakfast and even had seconds of cereal, fruits, yogurt.
Half of the year group enjoyed a game of migration and journeys, which required them to solve riddles in the woods while the other looked for signs of animal life in the conservation area.
Both classes created mammal hotels which have been put outside in order to catch small mammals to examine tomorrow.
This evening we had a talk about birds and wildlife by a man called Dennis.
Monday
After much excitement, we arrived at Stubbington today. We were greeted by Mr Scarborough and his team. After a quick welcome talk, a delicious lunch and a tour, we began our activities for the afternoon. We worked collaboratively to transport water across an obstacle course, build shelters and travel across the nightline. We definitely realised the importance of communication when working as a team to avoid getting even more soaked!
Dinner was well received and everyone ate until they were fit to burst. Before bed Mrs Thomas took her children to the hide and we saw 7 badgers!
Bed time was a success with no tears, though it took many children several hours to get over the excitement of the day.
